Refuse and Recycling Information
Refuse collection and recycling in New Castle is handled by a
private carter, SaniPro Disposal, under contract with the town, and
overseen by the Town Refuse and Recycling Office.
For questions about your service, please see the
reporting options listed below.
The town is divided into 18 collection zones with varying schedules. To find the
collection schedule, and zone number for your street, use the alphabetical index below to
look up your street name. If you know your zone number, click on the number below. If you
cannot find your street name in this index, please call the Refuse
and Recycling Office at (914) 238-8091.

- Styrofoam peanuts, tied in a plastic bag, should be brought to the Hunts Lane Town Recycling Center
- Household garbage and recyclables must be out by 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled collection day
- Place in same place as regular garbage pick-up.
- All goods should be out for pick-up by 7:00 a.m.
- Newspapers and magazines tied in bundles or securely in paper bags.
- Commingled recyclables in approved plastic bags or bins.
- Cardboard must be flattened.
- May also be brought to Hunts Lane Town Recycling Center
on Wednesdays ,Thursday, Friday or Saturdays, 7am to 2:30pm.
- Collected twice a month at curbside March through December when available.
- Leaves, brush, grass and tree trimmings.
- Place in compostable bags (which may be purchased at the Recycling Center)
or bundled with string and out by 7 a.m.
- Weight not to exceed 60 pounds.
- Bundles limited to 3 feet long and 2 feet in height, width or diameter.
- Can be left at Hunts Lane Town Recycling Center at designated
area.
- No stumps or logs accepted in excess of 5 inches in diameter.
- Town law prohibits plastic bags to be used for yard waste.

- Household Bulk Trash consists of items such as furniture, appliances, carpeting, glass, wood and metal items,
etc. at curbside only.
- No construction or demolition wastes, hazardous materials, car parts, tires
- No liquid paint, insecticides, or 55 gallon drums
- Lumber, brick, sheetrock, or insulation will also not be collected
- For disposal of the above items, call SaniPro, 1 800 273-9394, to arrange for special pick-up
for a fee.

of ice and snow for in-driveway, in-garage and rear door pick-ups

- First call SaniPro, 1 800 273-9394, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
- This should lead to satisfactory resolution, if not please call
- the Town Refuse and Recycling Office using the special number reserved
- for residential garbage problem reporting -- 238-8091
where there is an answering machine to leave questions or messages
for the next business day.
- The Solid Waste Advisory Board advises the Town Board on
solid waste issues.

The town recycling center is located on Hunts Lane, which is adjacent to the Saw Mill
River Parkway on the east side, just north of the Chappaqua exit. It can be reached off
Route 120, Quaker Road; turn left under the parkway overpass, and then bear right at the
northbound entrance ramp, continue north on Hunts Lane, the center is on the left.
- Recyclables, newspapers and magazines accepted Wednesday - Saturday,
7:00am-2:30pm.
- Old Cell phones, Cell phone batteries, Cell phone charging stations may be
dropped off at the Recycling Center during its normal receiving hours.
- Yard waste may be left Monday-Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the designated area.
- Tires are collected during open hours.
- Compost and mulch are available free to New Castle residents who pick it
up at the Recycling Center. There is a per-cubic-yard fee for mulch
delivered to private homes.
- Many items that cannot be collected curbside, such as: books, clothing, scrap metal, batteries and tires,
can be recycled at the Recycling Center.
- Items that are no longer wanted but are still usable can be put in the "Take It or
Leave It" shop for adoption by someone else. Open April - 1st week in
October.
- Refrigerators are now accepted. (Please Call 238-8091).
All yard waste deposited at the Hunts Lane yard waste drop-off site must
originate from within the Town of New Castle.

All material must be separated into the following categories and deposited
in the designated piles:
Woodchips
- material that has been processed through a wood chipper
Over 5" diameter must be cut into pieces no longer than
16" log length
Under 5" diameter brush, leaves, clippings, etc.
All material must be completely free of all contaminants. NO LUMBER,
CONCRETE, ROCKS, DIRT, METAL,
PLASTICS, PLASTIC BAGS, RUBBER OR OTHER CONTAMINANTS ARE ALLOWED UNDER ANY
CIRCUMSTANCES.
Pricing: All pickup trucks or larger vehicles are
required to stop at the Recycling Office at 210 Hunts Lane prior to dumping.
Quantity and type of material will be established by a Recycling Department
employee and priced according to the following price schedule:
