Building and Engineering

The Building and Engineering Department reviews all applications for the creation any type of structure on your property. For your health and safety, the Building Inspectors will ensure that your project is within the Town Code. The Engineering Department also reviews all applications regarding stormwater management and steep slopes. The department also provides professional advice and technical expertise to the Town Board, Planning Board and Zoning Board .

If you are wondering whether to call the Building and Engineering Department to find out if you need a Building Permit, the answer is, "yes." If are considering any projects on your home or property, such as building, demolishing or rewiring, there is a good chance that a permit is required. Some projects require review by the Planning Board before they can go forward. In that case you will be referred to the Planning Department secretary.
