9. Eastern Hemlock Tree- Tsuga Canadensis

The leafy twig tips of the Hemlock were used by the Native American in a tea to treat kidney aliments. It was added to steam baths to help with colds and coughs and as a poultice to stop bleeding. Native Americans employed it for tanning leather, a process which was used until the turn of the century. Now it is mostly used for pulp.
